The overarching objective of this project is to sustainably provide habitat for a viable tiger population in The Terai Arc Landscape (TAL). To achieve this we aim to understand and model the spatio-temporal dynamics of the grasslands in nature reserves in the TAL. The following research questions will be answered:
1. What are the natural dynamics of grasslands in floodplains;
2. How do they get disturbed in their dynamics by large anthropogenic interventions in the associated water system and climate change, and to what extent are the grasslands anthropomorphic features;
3. How can conservation of the grasslands be combined with water resources allocation for economic activities under sustainable, integrated water resources management?
4. How can co-creative interaction between scientific, public and societal stakeholders be realized to attain effective policies and landscape stewardship for tiger preservation.
